About Sun Visor Assembly Cell

JR Automation's Sun Visor Assembly Cell combines robotic handling, servo-driven transfers and an indexing dial to assemble fabric-covered visors. Heated edge folding, heat staking, grease application and labelling are integrated with electrical and mechanical tests. Multiple vision stations inspect work as it passes through the cell.

The system handles left- and right-hand visors and several part versions with limited changeover. Its material handling was designed to protect light-coloured fabric from contamination, and a slide-out edge-fold tooling pack provides maintenance access. One-piece flow links assembly and testing, with JR Automation reporting a 13.5-second cycle and half the floor-space requirement of the previous separate cells.
