The 30 August announcement moves the company’s domestic robot programme toward testing outside the laboratory. NEO Beta uses a bio-inspired design and soft exterior intended to support physical interaction around people. Its introduction extends 1X’s work beyond EVE, the wheeled humanoid developed for enterprise environments. The company says household testing will provide feedback on both capability and interaction. Homes expose the robot to varied spaces, objects and human behaviour, generating experience that can inform subsequent hardware and control development. 1X has designed NEO for manufacturing at its Moss facility in Norway. The Beta announcement establishes a prototype and a limited research deployment plan; it does not open broad consumer sales or establish general-purpose autonomous household work.
