The vehicle uses AI-enhanced visual SLAM for navigation without fixed guidepaths, includes suspension intended to tolerate less uniform floors, and monitors centre of gravity to improve load stability. ABB specified a top speed of 2 m/s and presented the design at automatica in Munich. The P603 supports interchangeable top modules for open and closed pallets, containers, racks and trolleys. Its bidirectional differential drive is designed for confined production layouts, while ABB specifies positioning accuracy of ±5 mm without reflectors or physical guidepaths. Applications include line replenishment, kitting, inter-process transport and delivering goods to robotic workstations. ABB introduced the platform alongside AMR Studio 4.0, which provides drag-and-drop configuration and no-code mission programming. Integrated Fleet Manager software coordinates multiple vehicles in real time. ABB says the software can reduce commissioning time by up to 20%, a manufacturer claim, and showed the P603 at automatica in Munich from 24–27 June 2025.
