Cognex has signed a definitive agreement to acquire RealSense for approximately $500 million in cash, expanding Cognex further into robotic perception and Physical AI.
RealSense develops depth cameras and perception systems used across autonomous mobile robots, humanoids, industrial automation and other machine-vision applications. The company says its cameras are used in roughly 70% of autonomous robots globally and by more than 20,000 customers.

Cognex expects RealSense to generate approximately $80–90 million of revenue in 2026, representing more than 50% year-over-year growth. Before closing, RealSense plans to spin out its facial-authentication business, leaving the acquired company more concentrated around robotics, depth sensing and physical-world perception.
The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
For Cognex, the acquisition adds a depth-perception platform to its existing industrial machine-vision portfolio. RealSense already supplies perception hardware and software into live robotics and automation deployments, including humanoids, AMRs and industrial robotic systems.
