The agreement follows Eni Next’s investment in December 2025. The companies will evaluate GENE.01 for inspection, teleoperation, remote assistance and work in complex environments across Eni operations. Eni will also assess providing sites for future robot production, assembly and testing. Versalis and Finproject may contribute materials and components, including a lighter, more durable foot and shoe system to improve impact absorption, grip and assembly. The companies will assess industrialisation and commercialisation of Generative Bionics’ sensorised footwear. Eni will evaluate providing high-performance computing resources for training and validating Physical AI models. Potential cooperation also covers battery use, disposal and recycling. These areas remain subject to analysis, experimentation and evaluation under the MoU. Generative Bionics raised €70 million (about $81 million) in late 2025 from investors including CDP Venture Capital, AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next, RoboIT and Tether. The company introduced the fully functional GENE.01 platform in July, combining vision, force and full-body tactile sensing for industrial applications. The company is also working with Fincantieri on humanoid welding applications in shipyards and with Synapticon on European drive and actuator technology. The Eni agreement adds potential manufacturing, materials and compute support to that industrialisation programme.
