The companies report more than 7,300 miles travelled by the vehicles, which use Ouster Rev7 OS1 lidar within Forterra’s AutoDrive perception system. Forterra built and delivered 105 Lancers in less than six months. The vehicles arrived in Ukraine in October 2025, providing a roughly year-long operating context for the latest update. Lancer is based on the Polaris RANGER XP 1500 and carries up to 750 kg of equipment. The deployed vehicles have been adapted locally with Starlink communications for supply transport and casualty evacuation. The sensor partnership connects Ouster’s 360-degree range measurements with AutoDrive’s sensor-fusion software. Lidar supplies three-dimensional distance information for vehicle perception across changing terrain and light conditions. It is one part of the onboard sensing system used to interpret the surrounding environment. Forterra plans to incorporate Ouster’s Rev8 native-colour lidar into subsequent vehicle generations. Rev8 captures colour alongside three-dimensional measurements and is designed for ASIL-B functional safety under ISO 26262 and cybersecurity under ISO 21434. Those are design requirements for the planned sensing platform. Forterra reports that AutoDrive has been integrated across more than 50 vehicle platforms used in over ten countries. Its programmes include the US military’s Squad Multipurpose Equipment Transport and Marine Corps ROGUE Fires systems.
