The notice was sent on 22 October. The co-founder confirmed the planned cessation and said the business direction would shift from hardware towards AI backend work. KABAM's parent, precision-engineering group PATEC, attributed the decision to cost and market considerations. PATEC's chairman told the newspaper that the company would stop producing robot hardware and that staff connected with AI work could move to a newly formed business. Discussions about the new activity are continuing. Founded in 2020, KABAM developed indoor and outdoor security robots for patrol, surveillance and facility inspection. Its product portfolio includes the Co-Lab indoor robot, Halo outdoor robot and Smart+ management software. Smart+ provides fleet dashboards, live camera feeds, alerts and connections with building systems such as lifts and CCTV. Zaobao lists applications at organisations including Certis, Changi Airport, JTC and SATS. The co-founder said KABAM would contact customers to arrange how robots already at their sites would be handled.
