Mecalux is building Easy WMS and Pallet Shuttle into beverage logistics control

Mecalux published a March 10, 2025 update adding generative AI functions to Easy WMS, its warehouse-management software. The update lets warehouse users query operational information through a chat interface in seven languages, placing Mecalux's software layer beside its long-running warehouse hardware and automation business.
The software update connects to a physical pallet-flow case at Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland. At the Knockmore Hill facility in Lisburn, Coca-Cola HBC manages about 9,000 pallets for products sold across the island of Ireland, using a semi-automated Pallet Shuttle system with four motorized shuttles.
The workflow preserves forklift-controlled front-end movement while removing deeper lane travel inside high-density storage. For beverage logistics, that distinction is practical: heavy pallet volumes, SKU rotation, full-truck dispatches, and delivery accuracy can create pressure before a company needs a fully automated warehouse.
Mecalux says it has more than 60 years of warehouse-design experience and operates across racking, automation, and logistics software. Easy WMS is built by a team of more than 500 engineers and has been implemented in more than 1,200 facilities across 36 countries. The Coca-Cola HBC case therefore sits at the intersection of storage hardware and software control rather than one product line alone.
The competitive field includes SSI Schaefer, Swisslog, Kardex, Dematic, KNAPP, shuttle-system suppliers, warehouse management software vendors, and integrators that combine racking with automation. Mecalux's distinction is the ability to sell storage systems, pallet shuttle automation, and WMS control as parts of the same warehouse modernization path.
The proof boundary is facility performance. Public material does not disclose delivered-in-full-on-time-and-accurately-invoiced impact, goods-receipt cycle time, dispatch accuracy, shuttle uptime, pallet turns per day, or whether Coca-Cola HBC has extended the same configuration to other sites.
If Mecalux can make semi-automated pallet storage and Easy WMS work as one operating layer, the company can serve customers that want better inventory control without jumping straight to full lights-out automation. The beverage case points to a middle path: dense pallet flow, operator-led movement, and software visibility in the same logistics system.
