The service reaches the South Ninth Tower area, a remote section without shops where visitors previously faced a walk of nearly half an hour to access supplies. Visitors can order drinks, cooling products and emergency items, while the drones are also used to carry waste away from the site after daily operations. The route extends Meituan’s wider drone-delivery network. By August 2024, the company said it was operating more than 30 routes across Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Guangzhou and had completed more than 300,000 cumulative orders. The Badaling service was launched as a regular operating route rather than a one-off demonstration, extending commercial drone delivery into a high-traffic tourist site with limited ground access.
