The 25 April announcement comes less than a year after the sixth-generation platform and focuses on collecting higher-quality human-behaviour data for robot learning. The redesign increases range of motion in the wrists, hands and elbows and improves hand durability. Miniaturised hydraulics reduce weight and complexity, while changes to vision and tactile sensing provide more detailed information for training. Sanctuary also reports increased uptime, faster assembly and commissioning, and a lower bill of materials. These changes are intended to bring additional robots online more quickly and increase the time available for collecting demonstrations. The company says the time required to automate selected new tasks has fallen from weeks to less than 24 hours. That is a company-reported development result for its task pipeline, rather than a universal measure of autonomous skill acquisition.
