ugo begins Canon Electronics production of mini G2 inspection robot

Japanese robotics company ugo announced on 2 November that Canon Electronics is manufacturing its mini G2 facility-inspection robot at Canon’s Misato plant in Saitama Prefecture. Production began in October 2026, and ugo plans to begin deliveries from 24 November.
Canon Electronics is manufacturing the robot under an electronics manufacturing services arrangement. Its precision-electronics production includes camera components and business scanners, backed by Canon-group purchasing and quality systems. ugo says the contract is designed to increase stable supply for customers using multiple robots across multiple facilities.
The compact mini series targets routine inspection at semiconductor factories, power plants and data centres. ugo says its previous mini G1 passed 100 cumulative shipments in about a year following its 2025 launch. The next-generation G2 adds support for an optional optical-zoom camera for small, high or distant instruments, ultrasonic sensors and a Power Delivery port for additional sensors or edge-AI equipment. The ultrasound-based navigation safety functions are scheduled for an operating-system update from 2027.
The G2 launch is accompanied by planned updates to ugo Platform, including an AI agent for configuration and error-handling assistance, a dashboard combining robot inspection data with facility data, and multi-robot monitoring on a common map. ugo describes the programme as extending inspection automation towards predictive maintenance.
ugo’s 21 October financing announcement disclosed ¥1 billion of debt from Mizuho Bank, Bank of Yokohama and Japan Finance Corporation. The funds support AI development, production of the separate ugo Nova semi-humanoid and related services. The Canon Electronics manufacturing arrangement covers mini G2.
