Unitree has introduced the Dex5-S five-finger dexterous hand with 22 degrees of freedom, a 1:1 human-hand form factor and pricing from $6,500 before tax and shipping.

Unitree says all 22 joints support smooth backdrivability and that each joint has limit-impact torque protection. It has not yet published the same detailed actuation breakdown for the Dex5-S that it provides for the Dex5-1, so the 22 DoF should not be described as 22 independently actuated joints until that is confirmed.
The Dex5-S extends Unitree’s existing dexterous-hand lineup. Its current Dex5-1 has 20 DoF, comprising 16 active and four coupled joints, while the Dex5-1P variant adds 94 tactile sensing points.
The hand is not Unitree’s only recent hardware upgrade. Last week, the company launched the G1+, updating its compact humanoid with a 2-DoF neck, stronger and more thermally efficient joint motors, upgraded binocular and wide-angle vision, head touch sensing and support for continuous external power. The standard G1+ starts at $15,000 before tax and shipping, according to Unitree’s product page.
