(https://korthosrobotics.com/ecosystem/company/xpeng); IRON (https://korthosrobotics.com/ecosystem/product/iron) XPeng has officially commissioned a dedicated production line for their IRON humanoid in Guangzhou, with the first robot completing final assembly before walking off the line autonomously. Automation across the line’s core processes exceeds 80%, marking a shift from R&D prototypes towards production-line manufacturing. Mass production is still targeted for the end of 2026, followed by an official launch and commercial deliveries in China and overseas in 2027. The milestone follows XPeng Robotics’ recent financing of more than $900 million at a post-money valuation above $6.3 billion. XPeng said the proceeds would support hardware and software R&D, Physical AI model training, data collection, mass-production infrastructure and international expansion. The production-line version of IRON is described as having 76 degrees of freedom across its body, including 21 in each hand. It also uses a humanoid spine, bionic muscle structures and flexible exterior skin. Three XPeng Turing AI chips provide up to 2,250 TOPS of compute, supporting the company’s Physical AI model stack for perception, reasoning and autonomous action. The company plans initial commercial use across their own stores and campuses before broader external deployments. By 2027, XPeng says monthly production capacity could scale to several thousand IRON units depending on demand, with external deliveries initially targeting retail and service applications. The line supports XPeng’s planned humanoid rollout using manufacturing capabilities developed in its EV business. --- Have a robotics update Korthos should review?
