About Celanese
Celanese's robotics materials include Zytel polyamides for structural and motion parts, Crastin PBT for electrical components, and Hytrel thermoplastic elastomers for flexible components. Material selection addresses different demands: stiffness and dimensional stability in load-bearing parts, electrical insulation around connectors, and fatigue resistance where cables and tubing repeatedly bend. Its application support extends to finite-element design review, moulding simulation, material sampling, prototyping and testing.
The Engineered Materials business works alongside Celanese's broader chemicals operations. In August 2026, it signed a development partnership with VIGOR Precision for plastic joints in humanoid robots. Celanese is to tailor materials and provide validation support around VIGOR's gear-design and manufacturing requirements. The collaboration targets development and commercialization; its technical priorities include temperature resistance, transmission precision, self-lubrication and dimensional accuracy.
