About ReconRobotics
ReconRobotics is an Edina, Minnesota robotics manufacturer founded in 2005 to commercialize micro-robot technology developed at the University of Minnesota. Its lightweight unmanned ground vehicles are designed to be thrown or placed into hazardous environments, giving tactical and emergency teams live video and audio before personnel enter.
The current flagship is Throwbot 2, supported by operator-control units, mission payloads and conversion kits. ReconRobotics reports more than 7,000 robots deployed across military, law-enforcement, bomb-squad and fire-rescue users in 35 countries. Recon Scout IR and related Scout variants are now legacy products: many remain in service, but the company says they are being phased out of general production.
