Moog and IIT demonstrate HyQReal quadruped pulling a three-ton airplane
Moog and IIT completed the design, assembly, and testing of the HyQReal hydraulic quadruped robot, demonstrating its traction and locomotion capability by pulling a 3,300 kg passenger airplane for more than 10 metres at Genoa Airport.

Evidence notes
- Moog and IIT completed the design, assembly, and testing of the HyQReal hydraulic quadruped robot.
- At Genoa Airport, HyQReal pulled a 3,300 kg passenger airplane for more than 10 metres, demonstrating its traction and locomotion capability.
- Moog developed most of the robot’s hydraulic actuation system and positioned its integrated smart actuators for future mobile-robotics builders.
Company overview
Moog supplies precision motion-control components and systems used in industrial robots, mobile machines and powered prosthetics. Its robotics portfolio includes servo motors, servo valves, slip rings and integrated electrohydraulic actuation. For IIT's HyQReal quadruped, Moog developed the pump units, smart manifolds, rotary unions and Integrated Servo Actuators.
