Daedong Gear and Daedong Robotics have signed memoranda of understanding with China's EYOU Robotics Technology to extend their actuator-development work into manufacturing, sales and agricultural robot applications. The Korean companies announced on 29 October that Daedong Gear and EYOU intend to establish a Chinese joint venture by January 2027, with a planned line capable of producing 30,000 robot actuator sets annually. First-generation components are targeted for the first half of 2027, with pilot production planned in China.
The partners plan integrated actuator families using planetary and harmonic reducers, motors, control electronics and sensors. Daedong Gear will contribute reducer design and performance and quality validation, while EYOU will provide motor design, drive control, assembly and testing. Daedong Robotics is responsible for integrating the components into robots and assessing the loads and motions encountered in agricultural work. The group began joint development earlier in 2026, making the new agreement a proposed manufacturing and commercial expansion of an existing technical relationship.
EYOU was established in 2018 and already supplies joint modules to China's humanoid industry. Citing research by GGII, Daedong describes EYOU as China's largest supplier by 2025 shipments of humanoid harmonic-joint modules, with approximately 95,000 joint-module sets shipped across its business that year. Daedong also identifies EYOU as a mass-production actuator supplier to AgiBot.
Daedong Robotics aims to reveal an agricultural humanoid called Agroid in the first half of 2027 and test the new actuators at Daedong's Taean farm, with additional field tests envisaged in China. The companies plan initial Chinese pilot manufacturing, application in Daedong robots and supply to third-party customers through 2028, before Korean mass production begins in 2029. Daedong's existing gear-manufacturing operations and autonomous agricultural-equipment development provide a domestic industrial base for the proposed component business.
