Arondite raises $12M for human oversight of autonomous systems

Arondite has raised $12 million to develop software for human-machine teaming, with Index Ventures announcing its backing on 1 May 2025. The company is building a common interface through which operators can oversee different autonomous systems, including drones, robots and sensors, and combine the information those machines collect.

The platform is aimed at organisations managing mixed equipment fleets whose data and controls are distributed across separate systems. Arondite’s software connects these tools so an operator can maintain visibility and coordinate their use from a shared interface. The development focuses on preserving human oversight while supporting a larger number of connected machines and information sources.

Index identifies security and defence applications including minefield clearance and protection of transport and energy infrastructure. Those environments can combine mobile platforms with fixed sensors and require staff to interpret activity across a wide area. A unified operational picture is intended to bring machine observations and control decisions into the same workflow.

Co-founders Will Blyth and Rob Underhill bring experience in defence operations and secure software. Blyth, the CEO, served in the British Army and worked at the Ministry of Defence, Palantir and Helsing. Underhill, the CTO, was a lead engineer at BAE Systems and a founding engineer at Garrison Technology. Their initial development centres on the software connecting autonomous equipment and the people responsible for directing it.
