Contoro Robotics announced a $12 million Series A on 25 March 2025 to expand its robotic trailer and container-unloading systems, bringing disclosed cumulative funding to $22 million. New investors included Doosan Investment, Coupang, Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund and IMM, alongside existing backers SV Investment, KB Investment, Kakao Ventures and Future Play. The Austin company said the capital would support wider deployments and a next-generation palletising system.
Contoro’s robots unload mixed-SKU, floor-loaded trailers and containers, where boxes differ in size and stacking arrangement. The system combines customer-specific AI, a specialised gripper and remote human assistance when an exception prevents autonomous completion. Contoro reported success above 99% for this supported operation, alongside twice the unloading speed and hundreds of labour hours saved monthly in early customer deployments.
The new capital will fund expansion of the robot fleet, entry into additional markets and development of a next-generation palletising system. Contoro’s human-in-the-loop approach allows operators to resolve unusual loads while generating demonstrations that can improve subsequent robot behaviour. Its reported success rate therefore describes the combined AI and human-supported service.
