ECARX secures robotic mower LiDAR design programme targeting 2026 production

ECARX announced on 25 June 2025 a LiDAR integration agreement with an unnamed international robotic lawn-mower developer, marking a disclosed non-automotive design programme for the Chinese mobility technology supplier. The agreement targeted global mass production in 2026 but did not identify the OEM, disclose contract value or confirm deliveries on the announcement date.
The solution is a solid-state, short-range 3D LiDAR operating at a 905 nm wavelength without mechanical scanning components. ECARX specifies a customised large-array VCSEL light source, a high-resolution SPAD sensor and a detection range of 60 metres. The sensor is intended to provide the environmental measurements needed for obstacle avoidance and navigation around an outdoor work area.
ECARX is applying technology developed for automotive sensing to a new category of autonomous equipment. At the announcement, the company reported automotive relationships spanning 18 manufacturers and 28 brands, with its products installed in more than 8.7 million vehicles. The mower agreement extends that sensor-integration business into robotics, with production still planned for 2026.
