GXO and Agility Robotics expand Digit deployments to two US facilities
Early-2027 expansion follows commercial Digit operations in Georgia; the sites plan to start with Digit 4 before migrating to Digit 5.

GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics have announced plans to expand Digit humanoid deployments to GXO fulfilment facilities in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee. Operations are expected to begin in early 2027 with Digit 4, followed by a transition to Digit 5 when the newer model becomes commercially available. The robots will handle repetitive material-moving work in e-commerce fulfilment.
The expansion follows commercial operations at GXO's Flowery Branch facility in Georgia, where Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes. There, the robot transfers containers onto conveyor equipment alongside existing warehouse automation. Moving the programme into two additional facilities extends the companies' work from a single operating site to a broader fulfilment network.
The relationship began with a proof-of-concept in late 2023. GXO and Agility then signed a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement in June 2024, covering Digit and Agility Arc, the software used to manage the robots and connect their work with warehouse systems. The service model combines the physical machines with fleet management and ongoing operating support.
Digit's bipedal design allows it to work around equipment and spaces arranged for people, including the tote-handling stations used at GXO. Agility Arc coordinates robot tasks and provides a common management layer as deployments expand. Agility reports more than 65,000 operating hours across its commercial programmes, giving its next robot generation a base of field experience beyond the GXO installation.
Agility unveiled Digit 5 in September and plans customer availability in 2027. Its RoboFab factory in Salem, Oregon, is designed for eventual annual capacity of 10,000 robots. The GXO rollout places the existing Digit 4 platform into the new sites first, with the subsequent model migration forming part of the deployment plan.
