Hyundai Mobis Reveals First Robot Actuators as It Expands Into Robotics Components

The automotive supplier has shown their first two robot actuators while preparing to supply Boston Dynamics’ Atlas and expand into other robot components.

Hyundai Mobis has publicly revealed two robot actuator types currently under development, as the automotive supplier expands into robotics components.

The systems were shown at their 2026 R&D Tech Day, themed around expanding “from mobility components to future robotics.” North American and Asian customers are attending the event for order and technical-cooperation discussions.

At CES 2026, Mobis said they were working with Boston Dynamics on high-performance actuators for Atlas, applying their automotive component design, quality and mass-production capabilities to standardise robot components and prepare a scalable supply chain.

Hyundai Mobis plans to start with actuators before expanding their robotics portfolio into grippers, sensors and controllers. Hyundai Motor Group has said Mobis is expected to supply actuators as Atlas moves toward mass production.

The two actuators revealed this week were not explicitly identified as the Atlas components under development.
