KNAPP is building Walmart fulfillment centers around Evo Shuttle scale
A May 2, 2025 Walmart case record gives KNAPP a multi-site fulfillment benchmark: five advanced centers, 12 steps compressed to five, and nearly 2 million containers per site.
KNAPP listed its Walmart advanced fulfillment-center case on May 2, 2025, describing a multi-site program built around large automated buildings and Evo Shuttle scale. The case says KNAPP and Walmart have already built four advanced fulfillment centers, with a fifth to come, across sites ranging from 871,000 to 2.2 million square feet.
The operating problem is ecommerce complexity at Walmart scale. KNAPP says the centers cut a 12-step process to five steps and doubled the number of orders processed per day. The same case says employees had previously walked up to 9 miles per day before the new process reduced that burden.
The deployment uses Evo Shuttle 2D systems with space for nearly 2 million containers per warehouse. In this context, Evo Shuttle is the high-density storage and retrieval layer behind shorter walking paths, while KiSoft keeps order flow, equipment status, analytics, and maintenance management connected across the site.
KNAPP's ability to support the Walmart program comes from its broader integrator base: software, shuttle hardware, workstation design, resident engineering, and lifecycle support under one operating package. Network-scale fulfillment does not only require tote density; it needs repeatable launch, service coverage, and recoverable operations across multiple large buildings.
The competitive field includes Dematic, Vanderlande, Swisslog, Witron, SSI Schaefer, AutoStore integrators, shuttle-system suppliers, and retailer-built automation programs. KNAPP's distinction is the combination of Evo Shuttle density, KiSoft software, and resident service for very large fulfillment-center programs.
The proof boundary is site-by-site operating performance. Public material does not disclose orders per labor hour, shuttle uptime, launch dates by facility, resident-engineer response times, or whether all five centers achieve the same productivity profile.
If KNAPP keeps Evo Shuttle and KiSoft performance consistent across Walmart's advanced fulfillment centers, the company can position itself around network automation rather than one impressive building. The strategic test is whether software, shuttles, and service can reduce fulfillment complexity at the scale of a national retailer.
