LG Electronics Pushes AXIUM Humanoid Actuators Toward External Customers

LG is courting external buyers for AXIUM while building their own NVIDIA-powered humanoid and robot-learning infrastructure.

LG Electronics says they are advancing external customer development for their new AXIUM humanoid actuators, with supply discussions underway with several major technology, logistics, manufacturing and robotics companies.

The actuator business is becoming a core part of LG’s wider humanoid strategy. LG says their motor technology can reduce motor size by 30–40% compared with competing designs, while they plan to combine internal development with external sourcing for reducers.

In August, LG and NVIDIA announced that they are developing a next-generation bipedal humanoid built on NVIDIA Isaac GR00T, with a public unveiling targeted for Q1 2027. LG plans to combine capabilities across the group, including LG Electronics actuators, LG Innotek sensors and LG Energy Solution batteries.

The companies are also working together on robot-learning infrastructure. LG is building a robotics data flywheel around manufacturing and logistics data at their Seoul Data Factory, with plans to generate around 100,000 hours of training data by year-end and use it to advance their Robot Foundation Model.

The latest actuator disclosure points to a dual strategy: LG is building their own humanoid stack while also trying to position core hardware such as actuators as an external supply business.
