Norbert Health raises $14M Series A for robotic nursing assistants

Norbert Health has raised a $14 million Series A to expand the clinical skills and deployments of its robotic nursing-assistant software. The 1 September 2026 announcement brings total funding to $19 million and names support from William A. Marino with Cardinal Group, Exor Seeds, CareIT and angel investors. The Brooklyn company develops the sensing, interaction and clinical-control stack used on partner robotic hardware.

Norbert-powered robots make rounds, collect contactless vital measurements, conduct structured assessments and respond to patient requests. Encounters are documented in the electronic health record, connecting bedside interactions to the care team’s existing information systems. The software combines physiological sensing with observations of mobility, motor function, cognition and social behaviour, alongside multilingual patient interaction.

The company says its systems have operated in skilled nursing facilities since August 2025 and now round on hundreds of patients daily. It reports 96% patient acceptance and 82% monitoring compliance in those operations. These figures describe Norbert’s deployed workflow and its use by patients and staff; the financing will support expansion into additional care settings.

Development priorities include a broader clinical skill library, regulatory clearances and more deployments. Norbert’s approach assigns navigation and physical movement to the partner hardware while its own stack supplies the patient-facing clinical interaction and documentation. That arrangement allows new assessment routines and sensing functions to be developed across the supported hardware platforms as the company extends its service beyond its initial nursing-facility deployments.
