Rainbow Robotics introduces wheeled dual-arm RB-Y1 humanoid-style platform

Rainbow Robotics has detailed RB-Y1, a wheeled dual-arm platform first shown publicly at Smart Factory and Automation World in March. Its 5 April announcement adds specifications and demonstrations for developers working on mobile manipulation and robot learning.

The robot combines two seven-degree-of-freedom arms with a six-axis articulated body mounted on a mobile base. More than 50 cm of vertical travel allows the arms to work at different heights, while coordinated body control adjusts the centre of gravity during movement.

Rainbow lists a driving speed of 2.5 m/s and uses components developed for its collaborative robots and autonomous mobile robots. The architecture provides mobility and a broad working envelope without requiring bipedal walking.

Developers can teach movements through a master arm, with self-collision constraints to help keep the two arms apart. A simulation environment supports AI training, linking physical demonstrations with software development and control experiments.
