Rainbow Robotics has opened preorders for RB-Y1, its mobile dual-arm platform, with a research configuration priced at $80,000 and a commercial configuration at $120,000, excluding VAT. Orders open on 8 May, with sequential deliveries planned to begin in October.

The system combines two seven-degree-of-freedom arms and a six-axis body on a wheeled base. It is intended to give AI researchers and robotics developers access to a physical platform for bimanual work, mobile manipulation and control experiments.

LiDAR supports autonomous movement, while a 3D recognition sensor and master-arm teaching system are optional. Rainbow plans APIs and configuration options that allow developers to build and test their own applications.

The company will demonstrate real-time teleoperation linked to a master arm and simulation at ICRA in Yokohama. The preorder programme follows the robot’s earlier public introduction, establishing commercial terms and a delivery target rather than completed shipments.
