Robinson Unmanned and Lyntris plan Dragonflight integration on SPARTAN drone

Robinson Unmanned and Lyntris have announced plans to integrate Dragonflight autonomy with the SPARTAN Group 2 drone. The work supports a $6.48 million expansion of Lyntris’ Maritime Tactical Command and Control contract with the U.S. Navy, extending the programme into coordinated autonomous aircraft operations.

Lyntris’ contract announcement describes precision three-dimensional formation flight, allowing small drone fleets to establish, maintain and adapt deliberate geometries. Coordinating relative aircraft positions is intended to support missions involving distributed sensors and communications, with the autonomy software and aircraft developed to operate together.

SPARTAN supplies a coaxial vertical-takeoff-and-landing airframe with modular interfaces for autonomy, payloads and mission systems. Robinson describes it as an all-weather Group 2 platform built around an open architecture, allowing specialised partners to add software and equipment as requirements change. The aircraft is an evolution of Ascent AeroSystems’ NX30 design.

Robinson Unmanned is the uncrewed-aircraft business of Robinson Helicopter Company. Its range spans compact coaxial aircraft and larger autonomous rotorcraft. The Lyntris project applies the SPARTAN platform to a Navy formation-flight development programme, combining Robinson’s aircraft engineering with distributed autonomy from an external software provider.
