Saab opened a three-building manufacturing campus in Fareham, Hampshire on 4 February 2025, supporting UK development and production of radar systems and Seaeye underwater robots. The investment was pledged in 2023 and the campus is designed to support up to 400 jobs across its activities. Systems associated with the site include the all-electric Seaeye SR20 remotely operated vehicle and Giraffe 1X, a 3D multi-mission radar.
The campus brings development, manufacturing and customer support together for the radar and underwater businesses. Seaeye’s remotely operated vehicles carry equipment for inspection and intervention below the surface, serving offshore and maritime operators. The new buildings provide room for manufacturing growth and support for customers using these systems.
Saab’s UK radar support responsibilities include Giraffe 1X, Giraffe AMB and TAIPAN, also known as Arthur, operated by the armed forces. The Fareham investment also includes opportunities for apprenticeships and skills development. Its 400-job figure applies to the combined campus, rather than solely to underwater-robot manufacturing.
