Sanctuary AI introduces eighth-generation wheeled Phoenix for robot data capture

Sanctuary AI has introduced an eighth-generation Phoenix configuration focused on collecting higher-quality data for robot learning. Published on 16 December, the update combines a wheeled base with revisions to cameras, telemetry and human-robot interaction.
The company says customer feedback favoured a strong, stable manipulation torso for near-term work. Its choice of wheels supports that priority while the arms and hands collect physical interaction data for the Carbon control system.
Depth and vision cameras have wider fields of view and higher resolution, alongside updates to the sensor suite and audio-video systems. Improved telemetry is intended to capture more detailed information from demonstrations and task execution.
Phoenix Generation 8 also simplifies the design and reduces bill-of-material costs to accelerate manufacturing and commissioning. The update follows the seventh generation introduced in April, with data quality and repeatable construction central to the new configuration.
