Serve Robotics names Magna exclusive manufacturer for planned 2,000-robot rollout
A production agreement adds manufacturing capacity to Serve’s planned Uber Eats fleet expansion.

Serve Robotics appointed Magna International as the exclusive contract manufacturer of its sidewalk delivery robots under a production and purchase agreement effective 24 April 2024. Manufacturing will support Serve’s plan to deploy up to 2,000 robots through Uber Eats across multiple US markets. The figure describes the intended rollout, rather than robots already built or operating.
The agreement extends a technology-licensing relationship effective 20 February 2024. That earlier arrangement granted Magna a non-exclusive licence to Serve’s technology and expertise for developing additional robotics and logistics products. The new manufacturing role brings Magna’s production engineering and supply-chain capabilities to Serve’s fleet expansion.
Serve develops the delivery robot, autonomy software and operating service. Spun out of Uber in 2021, the company said it had completed tens of thousands of deliveries for enterprise partners including Uber Eats and 7-Eleven. Its multi-year Uber Eats agreement provided the commercial framework for the planned 2,000-robot deployment.
