Solideon receives $1.25M AFWERX award for deployable multi-robot manufacturing

Solideon announced a $1.25 million AFWERX contract on 11 June 2025 to develop a deployable additive-manufacturing cell contained on a single pallet. The Direct-to-Phase II award supports the US Department of the Air Force’s work on manufacturing critical systems in expeditionary environments.

The company, legally Additive Space Technologies, combines commercially available robotic arms with coordinated software and specialised tooling. Its broader manufacturing approach covers welding, fabrication and assembly of large structures at the location where they are needed.

The funded project focuses on a compact manufacturing cell that can be moved between operating locations. It forms part of AFWERX’s Small Business Innovation Research programme. The award finances development; the announcement does not establish a completed field production line or a volume procurement order.
