Westmag emerged from stealth on 2 June 2026, disclosing an $11 million seed round closed in 2025 and led by Andreessen Horowitz. Founders Fund, Lux Capital, NFDG and Menlo Ventures also invested. The South San Francisco motor and actuator manufacturer said Factory 01 was ramping to fulfil committed orders for hundreds of thousands of units; these are orders, not completed shipments.
Founded by CEO David Hansen and COO Jordan Sanders, Westmag uses a shared motor and actuator architecture with automated winding, assembly and validation. It is developing suppliers in the United States and allied countries, including Japan, for production steps such as stator-steel stamping and rare-earth magnet finishing.
The initial manufacturing programme serves high-volume customers through offtake commitments. Westmag plans to introduce standardised products for lower-volume buyers later, extending access beyond the manufacturers supporting its first production ramp. The June announcement makes the earlier financing and factory programme public together.
