Bedrock Robotics disclosed on 18 November 2025 that its supervised autonomous excavation equipment had moved more than 65,000 cubic yards of material during site preparation for a 130-acre US manufacturing facility with contractor Sundt Construction. Its automated excavators loaded human-operated articulated dump trucks within an active construction workflow, and the company reported pilot activity on other sites across the southern United States. This was supervised autonomy, not a claim of unsupervised earthmoving operations.
The retrofit system had been installed across excavator models ranging from 20 to 80 tons, allowing Bedrock to work with contractors’ existing machines. At Sundt’s project, the excavators loaded human-driven articulated dump trucks using the established site workflow. The reported material volume is cumulative across that project, and the work remained supervised.
Bedrock also reported completing excavation at a customer’s prototyping facility at Proto-Town in Central Texas, its second active site deployment. Austin Bridge & Road, Maverick Constructors and Haydon Companies joined its partner programme alongside Sundt, Zachry Construction, Champion Site Prep and Capitol Aggregates. These pilots were intended to guide development towards the company’s target of fully autonomous operations in 2026.
