Chef Robotics raises $43.1M split between equity and equipment financing

Chef Robotics announced $43.1 million in financing on 31 March 2025, comprising $20.6 million of Series A equity and $22.5 million in equipment-financing debt. Avataar Ventures led the equity round, joined by investors including Construct Capital, Bloomberg Beta, Promus Ventures, MFV Partners and Interwoven Ventures.

The San Francisco company supplies robotic meal-assembly systems through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. The equipment financing supports the deployed machines, allowing customers to pay for service rather than fund the robots upfront. Chef reported total capital raised of $65.6 million, including $38.8 million in equity and $26.75 million in equipment financing.

Chef said its robots had assembled more than 44 million servings at customers including Amy’s Kitchen, Sunbasket, Chef Bombay and Cafe Spice. Its ChefOS software learns from production data to handle variable ingredients and portioning tasks. The financing will support additional deployments, sales and marketing, with UK expansion planned during 2025 alongside existing US and Canadian operations.
