Forterra selects Nominal for AutoDrive testing and operations data
The partnership connects simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and field tests across defence autonomy programmes.

Forterra has selected Nominal to support testing, validation and mission operations for AutoDrive, its autonomous ground-vehicle driving system. Announced on 12 March 2026, the partnership brings data from simulation, hardware-in-the-loop benches and vehicle trials into a common environment as Forterra expands production for defence programmes including ROGUE-Fires and U.S. Army ground-autonomy initiatives.
Nominal supplies the test and operations infrastructure, allowing engineers to perform regression testing, monitor field runs and analyse recorded results through consistent workflows. Linking those environments helps teams trace a software change from a simulated scenario to a bench test and then to a vehicle operating at a test range. AutoDrive supplies the vehicle’s autonomous-driving functions.
Forterra had announced AutoDrive integration with Oshkosh Defense’s ROGUE-Fires in January 2025, following two low-rate initial production orders. That programme supplies autonomous ground-vehicle capabilities to the U.S. Marine Corps. By the Nominal announcement, AutoDrive was described as fielded across more than a dozen vehicle platforms, creating a validation workload spanning different configurations, software versions and operating environments.
Forterra also operates distributed test ranges and engineering facilities, requiring live visibility during trials and analysis after a run. The same records can support fleet analytics, anomaly investigation and sustainment planning once vehicles enter service. The partnership extends Nominal’s work in complex-hardware testing into the operational lifecycle of Forterra’s autonomous ground systems.
