Nominal
About
About Nominal
Nominal Core captures, structures and analyzes high-rate engineering data, while Nominal Connect runs test applications and hardware-in-the-loop workflows at the edge. The stack supports cloud, on-premises and air-gapped environments, allowing teams to link instrumentation, test operations, analysis and reporting across development and field use.
The company began in aerospace and defense and now serves automotive, energy, manufacturing and robotics programmes. By March 2026 it reported more than sixty customer organizations, including four of the five largest defense contractors, and was using its new capital to deepen AI-assisted investigation and expand into additional hardware categories.

Events
- 2026-09-15 - Partnership - Nominal joins North Wind’s ASCENT aerospace test environment
North Wind operates 11 facilities spanning propulsion, hypersonics and flight-systems testing, including its flagship tunnel in Plymouth, Minnesota. Telemetry, sensor data, logs and video from physical tests flow into a shared environment as they are captured. The integration is intended to let engineering teams monitor systems in real time, identify issues earlier and reuse evidence across successive tests and facilities.
Source - 2026-09-08 - Partnership - Nominal and AeroVironment connect test and production data at scale
AeroVironment is using one shared system for test-data capture, cross-team review and traceability from engineering test through end-of-line manufacturing checks. The deployment spans growing production of uncrewed aircraft, loitering munitions and counter-UAS systems across multiple programmes and facilities. Nominal provides edge data capture, browser-based storage and analysis, and a continuous record from research and development through production scale.
Source - 2026-03-12 - Partnership - Forterra selects Nominal for AutoDrive test and mission data infrastructure
Nominal unifies data from simulation, hardware-in-the-loop benches, test ranges and operating vehicles. The programme covers regression testing, real-time field validation, post-test analysis and fleet-wide sustainment analytics. The announcement identifies a technology selection and operating programme but does not disclose a contract value.

Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Lux Capital, Red Glass and Lightspeed continued their support in the extension. The round followed a $75 million Series B and brought the two Series B tranches to $155 million. Nominal is expanding Core and Connect, adding AI-assisted engineering workflows and taking its test stack into automotive, robotics and other industrial sectors.
