Hyperion Robotics and LKAB agree UK robotic concrete factory at Flixborough
The planned UK factory combines Hyperion’s robotic fabrication with LKAB’s site and mineral supply.

Hyperion Robotics and LKAB Minerals announced on 24 March 2026 that they would establish Forge I, an automated concrete manufacturing facility at Flixborough near Scunthorpe. Hyperion will develop and operate the factory, with LKAB providing the industrial site and low-carbon mineral inputs. Opening was planned before summer 2026.
The site will be Hyperion’s primary UK manufacturing base and the first deployment of its Forge production platform. It is designed to manufacture more than 50 large foundations per week, with typical dimensions up to three metres by three metres and 2.5 metres high. Initial products will serve energy, water, data-centre and utility infrastructure.
Hyperion combines computational design with robotic fabrication to make foundation systems using material placed according to structural requirements. The partners expect centralised production to reduce site labour and heavy-vehicle movements. The facility will initially support around 10 skilled roles. Hyperion’s existing customers included National Grid, Yorkshire Water, Welsh Water and Mott MacDonald Bentley; the Flixborough capacity remained planned at announcement.
