Innoviz Technologies announced on 2 December 2025 that Daimler Truck and Torc Robotics had selected its InnovizTwo short-range LiDAR for a series-production SAE Level 4 Class 8 truck programme. The sensor will be integrated into autonomous Freightliner Cascadia trucks using Torc’s virtual driver. The announcement establishes a development and supply role in the planned platform, rather than a completed commercial fleet deployment.

The companies will work together to adapt the LiDAR to the requirements of heavy commercial vehicles. Short-range sensing supplies near-field measurements around the truck as part of the wider perception system, complementing the software that interprets the surroundings and controls the vehicle. Daimler Truck provides the vehicle platform while its subsidiary Torc develops the autonomous-driving system.

The programme targets highway and regional transportation in North America. Innoviz had previously disclosed the selection without identifying the commercial-vehicle manufacturer; the December announcement names Daimler Truck and Torc as the partners. The collaboration extends Innoviz’s automotive sensor engineering into a production-oriented autonomous trucking programme.
