Jacobi Robotics is building motion planning into faster robot programming

Jacobi Robotics launched on July 16, 2024 with a $5 million seed round led by Moxxie Ventures. The company also announced Jacobi Palletizer as its first AI-powered solution.
The founding team includes Yahav Avigal, Lars Berscheid, Max Cao, Jeff Ichnowski, and Ken Goldberg, tying the company to UC Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon robotics research.
Jacobi says its motion-planning technology enables robot deployment in less than one day compared with one month using existing programming tools. That is a company claim, but it identifies the target bottleneck: programming time, collision avoidance, and reprogramming for changing pallets or cells.
Jacobi Palletizer gives the software a concrete first surface. Palletizing can look simple, but mixed case dimensions, stack patterns, reach limits, gripper constraints, and collision-free motion make programming tedious when the warehouse changes packaging or customer requirements.
The competitive field includes RoboDK, MoveIt-based stacks, NVIDIA Isaac motion tools, Intrinsic, Wandelbots, traditional robot OEM programming environments, and integrator-built palletizing software. Jacobi?s distinction is AI-assisted motion planning from a research-heavy founding team, packaged for a specific cell type first.
Public material does not show customer-verified installation time, palletizing throughput, uptime by cell, collision recovery rate, reprogramming frequency by customer, pricing, paid deployment count, customer retention, or renewal rate. The proof is funding, founder credibility, and a focused first product.
Jacobi?s strategic test is whether motion planning can become a reusable deployment accelerator. If Jacobi Palletizer cuts programming time in real warehouses, the company can sell software that makes existing robot arms easier to deploy rather than asking customers to change hardware.
