Unitree reports cumulative production of 10,000–20,000 G1 humanoids

Unitree founder Wang Xingxing says cumulative production of the G1 humanoid has reached approximately 10,000–20,000 robots. Speaking at the 2026 World Physical AI Conference on 22 October, he described the G1 as the world's best-selling humanoid model, according to Sina Technology's report of his remarks.

The G1 was introduced in May 2024 as Unitree's compact humanoid platform. Its product family includes standard and education configurations with different joint and computing options. A production version followed in August 2024, and Unitree has since expanded its humanoid range with the lower-priced R1 and the upgraded G1+.

Wang identified larger-scale hardware manufacturing, robot-model development and computing infrastructure as priorities. He said Unitree was producing robots in the tens of thousands annually alongside hundreds of thousands of joint motors and modules. The company plans to increase its own model-development work and cooperation with model developers as it expands hardware output.

He also described company experiments in which GPT-6 controlled robots performing drawing, brush washing and Go-playing tasks without task-specific training. His discussion focused on connecting model inputs and outputs with real machines and improving interaction with physical objects.

Unitree is developing a self-improvement workflow in which AI systems gather research, write code, train in simulation and test on physical robots. Wang described model-based scoring and feedback feeding results into another iteration. That work links the company's growing hardware base with efforts to automate parts of robot-policy development.
