Unitree launches G1+ humanoid with stronger joints and upgraded perception
The updated G1 adds more joint torque, lower heat generation, a new 2-DoF neck, upgraded perception and continuous external power.
Unitree has launched G1+, an upgraded version of its G1 humanoid with higher joint torque, lower heat generation, a new neck, upgraded perception and support for continuous external power.
The standard G1+ is priced at RMB95,000 in China including tax, or about US$13K. Unitree lists the international starting price at $15,000 before tax and shipping, while the original G1 remains listed from $13,500. The company positions the G1+ as an upgrade to the existing platform rather than a replacement for it.
The largest changes are in the actuation system. Unitree says peak torque at the shoulder and waist has increased 110%, while arm torque is up 43%. At the same torque output, heat generation falls by 72% at the shoulder and waist, 30% in the arms and 28% in the thighs.
G1+ adds a 2-DoF neck with pitch from -25° to 36° and yaw of ±110°. Its perception stack moves from the original G1’s depth camera and 3D LiDAR to a binocular camera, a wide-angle chest camera and 3D LiDAR. The updated robot also adds head touch sensing and a six-microphone array.
The standard G1+ weighs about 35 kg, has 25 joint degrees of freedom, a listed battery life of around two hours and an arm payload of about 3 kg. The EDU version supports configurations up to 45 DoF, with optional dexterous hands and additional waist and wrist joints.
Unitree has also added support for continuous external power, positioning the G1+ for longer research, demonstration and development sessions without relying solely on the onboard battery. The comparison below uses the company’s G1+ specifications and its original G1 specifications.
G1 versus G1+:
| Specification | G1 | G1+ |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $13.5K internationally | RMB95K (~$13K) in China; $15K internationally |
| Standard DoF | 23 | 25 |
| Perception | Depth camera and 3D LiDAR | Binocular and wide-angle chest cameras alongside 3D LiDAR |
| Audio | Four-microphone array | Six-microphone array |
| Arm payload | About 2 kg | About 3 kg |
| Battery | About two hours | About two hours; continuous external power added |
| Neck | No articulated neck DoF listed | 2 DoF; pitch from -25° to 36° and yaw of ±110° |
The update keeps the basic G1 form factor and price bracket while improving force output, cooling and perception rather than replacing the platform outright.
