Asimov Begins Shipping Its Open-Source Humanoid
The first Asimov 1 units are leaving the lab for developers and researchers, moving the project from open-reference design into customer hardware.
Asimov says the first batch of Asimov 1 humanoids is now shipping, moving the project from open-source development into customer hardware.
The 1.2 m, 35 kg platform is aimed at builders, developers and researchers and is built around an open-reference model. Users can buy the robot as a kit or reproduce it themselves using Asimov's published hardware and software resources.
That approach reflects a deliberate attempt to make humanoid development less dependent on closed platforms. Asimov has previously described frustrations with systems where limited hardware access, replacement delays and poor observability can slow research and iteration.
Asimov is designing a reproducible development platform that researchers can modify and repair for locomotion, manipulation and control research.
Asimov open-sourced its first bipedal platform in January and says it has gone from early design work to shipping the full humanoid in under a year.
