Nordbo Robotics detailed its Mimic UR and Mimic Core 2.0 programming approaches on 21 August 2025, distinguishing the Universal Robots-integrated workflow from its standalone Mimic Core environment. The platform records operator-guided motions and converts them into repeatable robot programmes for variable surface-finishing processes. Nordbo traced the system from polishing into sanding, grinding, deburring, painting and powder coating applications.

Mimic UR runs inside Universal Robots’ Polyscope interface, providing a familiar workflow for operators who already use UR cobots. Mimic Core 2.0 provides a separate drag-and-drop environment intended for users without conventional robot-programming experience. Nordbo identifies Kuka, Fanuc and Nachi among the supported robot brands, extending the approach to industrial arms as well as collaborative robots.

Core combines path generation, force control, simulation and tracking with dedicated sanding and polishing modules. Separate operator and manager access levels support different responsibilities during setup and production. The platform captures an experienced worker’s motion as the starting point for a programme, then provides software tools to adjust and repeat that path across finishing operations.
