About Aircraft Engine Cowling Insert Perforator
JR Automation's Aircraft Engine Cowling Insert Perforator uses a six-axis gantry and CNC control to guide a rubberised application wheel over a composite lay-up fixture. Electric actuators secure the fixture, and an operator initiates a probing cycle that establishes its position. Touch-probe measurements are combined with CAD geometry to locate the work accurately within the machine.
A translator converts the programmed surface paths into the controller's G-code instructions. During processing, a force transducer feeds the trajectory planner so the servo system can adjust vertical position in response to contact. Four height sensors monitor tool alignment against the fixture. This connects geometric programming with contact feedback as the wheel follows the cowling-shaped surface.
