About iRPS Through-shaft Position Sensor

Schaeffler’s iRPS measures rotor position inductively, without a permanent magnet or rare-earth sensing target. Its through-shaft layout and configurable pole-pair count allow different motor packaging arrangements. Schaeffler lists robotic and humanoid joints alongside electric-drive, steering and other industrial applications.

The sensor produces analogue sine/cosine signals from a 5 V supply. Schaeffler specifies electrical-angle accuracy below ±0.5 degrees and operation up to 60,000 rpm for a four-pole-pair configuration. The speed qualification matters: it is not a universal rating for every pole-pair arrangement.
