About Freeform
Freeform provides metal additive manufacturing through software-controlled printing factories. The company builds its own compute, sensors, controls and machine-learning software to monitor and adjust metal formation during production. Customers use the resulting manufacturing service for prototypes, qualification work and production parts across aerospace, defence, energy, transport and other engineering industries.
The system combines printing hardware with real-time sensing and feedback control, allowing process adjustments while a part is being made. Customers purchase manufacturing capacity and finished parts rather than having to operate the equipment themselves. Freeform is based in Los Angeles and was founded by former SpaceX engineers. Its autonomous factory technology is in commercial use, with expansion of production capacity and application-specific qualification continuing alongside customer programmes.
