About Apricity Robotics
Apricity Robotics is developing robotic assistance for transthoracic echocardiography, with the aim of reducing the physical load placed on cardiac sonographers. Its platform is intended to support positioning and manipulation during ultrasound acquisition while leaving clinical interpretation and patient care with the medical team. Ergonomics, consistent image capture and integration into an existing examination workflow are central design requirements.
The Columbus, Ohio company brings together robotics, clinical, software and engineering staff and is working with cardiology organisations and US hospital systems on testing and workflow feedback. Teams are demonstrating the system at clinical sites while validating efficacy and refining how it supports sonographers. Apricity states that its robots remain in the FDA testing and approval process. The programme should therefore be understood as a clinical-stage medical robotics system, not a cleared commercial ultrasound product or an established deployment fleet.
