Space Forge
About
About Space Forge
ForgeStar provides a free-flying manufacturing environment in microgravity and high vacuum, allowing materials to form without buoyancy-driven convection and terrestrial contamination. Modular payload bays can host semiconductor, alloy and biological processes while the satellite supplies power, thermal management and autonomous operation.
The Pridwen heat shield unfolds before re-entry and radiates heat through a high-temperature metallic surface, allowing the capsule and manufactured payload to return to Earth. Space Forge is developing the satellite, manufacturing payload interfaces, re-entry guidance and recovery workflow as one reusable in-space production service.

Timeline
Events
- 2025-12-31 - Capability - ForgeStar-1 generates plasma for orbital semiconductor manufacturing
The in-orbit demonstration created plasma at approximately 1,000 degrees Celsius on an autonomous free-flying satellite. Space Forge described the result as the first commercial orbital platform to demonstrate this manufacturing condition. The experiment supports future production of wide- and ultra-wide-bandgap semiconductor materials on ForgeStar missions.

ForgeStar-1 launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base and contacted Space Forge mission control in Cardiff after separation. The spacecraft became the first UK satellite licensed for in-space manufacturing. The mission was designed to test semiconductor-manufacturing conditions, re-entry technologies and predictive flight software before future return missions.
