About
About T2
T2 is building hub-to-hub freight services around heavy trucks equipped with cameras, radar, LiDAR, positioning and automated-driving compute. Its current commercial Level 2 operation still uses a driver, generating route, vehicle and logistics data while carrying real customer cargo on Japanese trunk roads. The company is using those routes as the operating base for later driverless service.
For Level 4 deployment, T2 is integrating PlusAI autonomy with Japanese trucks, fleet operations and logistics hubs. The intended workflow moves trailers or loads between major facilities on defined highway corridors, with remote support and human handling at either end. Commercial Level 4 hub-to-hub service is targeted from fiscal 2027 as Japan’s logistics sector faces persistent driver shortages.

Events
- 2026-10-21 - Capability - T2 validates automated truck arrival and departure at transfer hubs
The September public-road experiments used Level 2 automation under driver supervision. A smartphone web application issued departure instructions as part of the transfer-hub operating test. Vehicles with the new functions are planned to enter existing commercial operations from January 2027; Level 4 service remains a later goal.
Source - 2026-10-07 - Partnership - T2 joins autonomous-truck and rail trial for Aomori apple shipments
The October 13–15 trial covers about 1,200 kilometres using a shared 31-foot rail-and-road container. T2’s supervised Level 2 truck will serve the Sumidagawa–Kudara leg, alongside rail freight and conventional first- and last-mile trucks. The partners will assess produce quality and transport performance before deciding on regular service.

The round trip spans about 850 km between the Kanto and Chugoku regions, with approximately 410 km of Level 2 automated driving in each direction. A 31-foot shared container developed by T2 and JR Freight transfers directly between truck and rail. The outbound leg carries S&B Foods products and the return leg carries Otafuku Sauce products while the partners assess transport quality and operating procedures.

The transaction was a third-party share allocation to 11 corporate and venture investors. Participants spanned shipping, warehousing, leasing, real estate and energy-related investors. T2 said it planned an additional Series B close during fiscal 2026; that future close is not included in this amount.
Source - 2026-06-15 - Capability - T2 demonstrates autonomous tollgate passage and adds Nishinomiya Transgate
The truck used high-definition point-cloud data and onboard LiDAR for centimetre-level localisation through narrow toll lanes. Tests used the Ayase and Nishinomiya Transgate sites as transfer points between highway autonomy and human-driven local-road operation. The Nishinomiya site can receive up to eight trucks across two spaces near the interchange.
Source - 2026-03-31 - Capability - T2 completes 500 km highway run without temporary steering intervention
The route connected Ayase in Kanagawa with Kobe in Hyogo. New functions handled roadworks, temporary speed limits, merging traffic and sloped road surfaces while maintaining automated driving. The result advances T2's development path toward Level 4 trunk-haul service.
Source - 2025-07-01 - Deployment - T2 launches commercial autonomous-truck trunk haul for five customers
Initial customers were Sagawa Express, Seino Transportation, Japan Post, Fukuyama Transporting and Mitsui-Soko Logistics. The driver-supervised service began on routes of up to roughly 500 kilometres. T2 planned to increase combined commercial and test operations to about five days per week while preparing for driverless Level 4 service.
